It cleared up at about 11pm, so I set up the telescope and let it cool for about an hour. The seeing was still pretty rough, but the results aren't bad.

These pictures are about 2 hours before the maximum for Seattle (1:30am) but it clouded up before 1am. Not like that hour (or even the last week) has made much of a difference, it was a significant historical moment nonetheless.

Mars

Nearing its closest approach in modern history, its looking fine in most medium-sized scopes. This is a picture with the Vesta and a 2x barlow. I am impressed with the details such as the polar cap and blue haze!
